Since I never read Game Informer magazine back in the day, the first time I heard of Dan Ryckert (@DanRyckert) was when he left his job there to join Giant Bomb in 2014. Of all the folks who have been a part of that team over the years, Dan was consistently one of the most entertaining, and despite the fact that he’s now been working as a podcast producer for WWE for a couple of years, he still puts out a lot of great games-related content on his personal channels.

Dan also writes books. This art is from the cover of Air Force Gator 2: Scales of Justice.

Some of Dan’s recent output includes a video of every minute he spent raising and interacting with virtual pets in the Dreamcast game Seaman over a three-week period, as well as always-amusing streams of games like The Anacrusis, Max Payne, and Samba de Amigo. Dan also co-hosts a semi-regular video games podcast called Fire Escape, which definitely has its moments, but hasn’t yet made it into my regular podcast rotation.

Look back through some of the archived content on Dan’s YouTube channel and you’ll find all kinds of crazy stuff that’s emblematic of the charmed life that he leads. Dan’s long-running Mario Maker feud with a former colleague is one of my favorite video series, but perhaps you’d rather watch him convince Peter Molyneux to review fart apps? Or play Super Mario Bros. 3 while riding a rollercoaster five times in a row? There’s a whole lot of great content there, and Dan creates more every week when he streams playthroughs of games and such on his Twitch channel.
